The 2026 Ringier Technology Innovation Award for Personal Care was recently held, where UNI-POWDER’s “Biomiq Series” was honored with the Technology Innovation Award.

The development of this series stems from our continuous research into powder performance optimization. While conventional surface treatments can improve powder dispersion and application performance within formulation systems, there remains further potential to optimize the interfacial interaction between powders and the skin.

Based on this exploration, we introduced “Bionic Interface Construction Technology” in the design of the Biomiq Series. Through a dual-layer bionic structure, the technology optimizes the interface relationship between the powder surface and skin, enabling enhanced adhesion, comfort, and stability during application.

1. Innovative Bionic Interface Technology

Unlike conventional single-layer bionic coatings or single surface treatment approaches, the Biomiq Series constructs a dual-layer bionic interface structure, transforming the powder surface from a “single coating” into a micro-scale interface system with adaptive capabilities. This enables the powder to achieve a more natural response when in contact with the skin.

Hyaluronic Acid-Based Moisture-Locking Layer

A hydration structure built around hyaluronic acid creates a moisture-locking layer on the powder surface, allowing the particles to be surrounded by a soft hydration environment—preventing excessive exposure while maintaining moisture balance.

On one hand, this layer helps alleviate the common dry powder feel associated with inorganic powders. On the other hand, it enables the powder to behave more like a “hydrated particle” when incorporated into formulations, allowing smoother integration into oil-water systems, reducing interfacial incompatibility, and enhancing overall softness and stability.

Cell Membrane-Inspired Bionic Interface Layer

If the previous layer acts as a “hydration outer layer”, this layer functions more like a flexible buffering interface designed for closer interaction with the skin.

By mimicking the structural principles of cell membranes, this bionic interface allows the powder to move beyond rigid adhesion on the skin surface and instead spread more naturally along skin texture.

Rather than simply covering the skin, it creates a closer interaction between the powder and skin, delivering a makeup experience that resembles a “second skin”.

Based on the construction of its bionic structure, the Biomiq Series demonstrates stable and comprehensive performance in both formulation systems and final makeup results:

The Biomiq Series effectively reduces the tendency of powder particles to agglomerate and improves surface smoothness, delivering enhanced fineness, silky feel, and uniform spreading performance. While maintaining the moisture condition of the skin surface, the Biomiq Series helps balance oil-related performance and stabilize the overall condition of the skin surface.
